WTF? Biz is that Dude!

I don't know what to type!

and a classic, hopefully you've all seen Stretch's blog on the sample source CRAZY!

Here it is

Glad I've seen him rock live too, very entertaining

The Hypnotic

I first heard The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble when we got the Tony Allen Remixes 12" in for Sankofa, all I can say is I was blown away, it sounded so dope I made it my mission to play it to anyone that would listen and needless to say it sold out quickly, was restocked and sold out quickly again and again and again. Heres the track for you to check

Something tells me laptop speakers won't do it justice so hunt down the 12", 2LP, CD or official download. They'll be at the Hare and Hounds playing live this Sunday along with Ben Westbeech (DJ and vocal set, he's sick too don't front), Adam Regan, Sam Redmore and FunkboxStolen Info...

Another Bank Holiday Sunday rolls around and we’ve pulled out all the stops to bring you a fantastic line-up of live music and DJs. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are a band of horn-playing brothers from Chicago. In 1999 the brothers combined their efforts and began performing a new style of brass music they called "Hypnotic". In the past few years, they have travelled all over the world playing for audiences of all genres; opening up for the B52's, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and most recently playing with Maceo Parker at Apollo Theater in Harlem.
And following the live show we’ve got the super-talented Ben Westbeech and one of his infamous DJ & vocal sets. He rocked the Bull’s Head to it’s foundations last year and we’re delighted to have him back for what promises to be another killer bank holiday at the H&H!

Evidence & Fashawn Freestyle On 101Barz

This is dope, cheers to S-Type for bringing it to my attention, Ev seems to get fronted on, not sure why (Dilated signed to a major? I've no idea, anyway he's still damn good and a sick producer... you can check his production credits here.)

Bonus, one of my favourite Ev beats used by Defari

Madlib & J.Rocc @ Fabric Last Night

Shouts to Pepamill for upping the footage, still gutted I couldn't make this or the Mulatu / Heliocentrics gig tonight

New Damu Same Beat EP

If you're still sleeping on the excellent Y Society album "Travel at Your Own Pace" on Tres then go pick it up, one of the best albums of the last few years. Heres 2 video's to promote the new Same Beat EP you can downlaod for free here.

Damu on the MPC 2000 - Same Beat - Live Freestyles in NYC (1/2)

Damu on the MPC - Same Beat - Y Society Live at WKCR NYC (2/2)

HHC Digital Issue 2

New issue of Hip-Hop Connection so cop cop that ish here, they've been good enough to include my Top 5 (page 46 if you care) and add words like "very tasty" and "truly top notch" that I'd never use to describe music, perhaps I'll write a few more words of my own next time, just go buy the records I mentioned they're all worthy of your hard earned cash and sound better on a turntable than out of your laptop speakers. Also included are interviews with Raekwon, Ghostface, Steele, Paul White, Superstar Quamallah, Dr Butcher and more. Theres links to 35 free mp3's too and a mix by Last Skeptik so really as it's free you've no excuses.

Happy reading

GLK @ Hare and Hounds TONIGHT

First off, Breakin Convention was amazing, big shouts to everyone who came out and made it such an incredible 2 days, proper post about it to follow but for now make sure your free tonight because... Gas Lamp Killer is at the Hare and Hounds tonight (I didn't mistype GFK although seeing Tony Starks would be amazing too!) and it's been along time since I've actually been excited about seeing someone DJ. Oh and it's not too late for a school night so no excuses!

Here's the blurb stolen from facebook...
"
That is right people...THE GASLAMP KILLER ( Los Angeles / Obey records / Brainfeeder / Money Studies / Alpha Pup ) is coming to Birmingham.

Do not miss your chance to see and hear what so many people have been talking about...

A caustic cloud creeps up from the cracks. The darkness chops tree trunks
to stumps and smothers soft sounds in the murderous mist. The bloodthirsty
form rises, wrapping its tendrils around the throats of pop-minded punks.
By dusting the dumb this murderer ushers in soaring sounds. The Gaslamp
Killer slashes to save.

First spotted stalking the streets of San Diego this serial sound slayer has
spread wide. Dues paid with sweat have paid off. From homemade crushed
beat mixtapes to glossy magazine pages the Gaslamp Killer has never altered
course. He brings the dirtiest and deepest dynamite into being with
dedication and discipline.

The Gaslamp Killer is a raw revolutionary who sets every moment on shatter.
A GLK dj set is an experience in the ultra-unexpected. Wrecking the decks
like Animal minus the soft Muppet facade, Gaslamp is a tornado of exploding
hair and energy. His shaking head is the cap on a volcano bursting with
passion for blasting. In these high heat moments he meshes international
mystery music with the grimiest beats in existence. Gaslamp's psychedelic
stew shines supreme in dim chambers with big bass.

The Gaslamp Killer master mixes have evolved into original music
collaborations with his posse MHE and frequent vocal collaborator Sumach.
Gaslamp's progressive heat seeking sounds are being sought by beat freaks
from every corner. His explosive energy keeps electrified ears eager for
more and more x more and more. The Gaslamp Killer's ruthless focus is on
high. This murderer continues breeding brightness by evaporating boring
beats

Top Billin Live

I can never get enough of this tune, classic is an understatement!

I'm sure the crowd would have rapped the whole thing if Milk would have let them! As a bonus "I Get The Papers" which I somehow missed from the 2nd Audio 2 album.

Check this dope interview with Milk D over at Fat Lace Part 1 and Part 2. Big thanks to Drew Huge who was responsible for getting me the very dope unreleased Jeep Voices track I played a month or so back on the radio
