Le Donk and Scor-zay-zee

Yep I know I wouldn't usually do a post on a film but this ones an exception. My better half booked tickets for an advance screening at The Electric (oldest cinema in the UK!) with Shane Meadows and Paddy Considine doing a Q&A after (unfortunately no Scorz), sounds like the film business is just as shady as the music business, Q(-tip) record industry rule number 4080 I don't want to spoil the film but it will hopefully be on at a local cinema near you now (released 09-10-09) and I'm giving it the two thumbs up (pause), too many rofl moments so don't snooze! It's a strange mix of improvised comedy and part reality. It's on till Thursday 15th Oct.

Word is Scorz is officially out of retirement and signed a new deal which is great news, now get down to your local cinema, it's better than any other film out at the moment and may be the best film this year

Hey Presto! Shepdog, King Of The Beats 2 and more...

Friday is Funkbox time again, this month we've invited up Shepdog from Nice Up! Records along with the residents, hope to see some of you out and about.

This Sunday sees the Premier of Pritt's King Of The Beats 2 film in Leicester, if you haven't seen the first one, it put some of the UK's finest beat makers up against each other with a budget of £20 each and featured The P Brothers, Beyond There, The Unsung Heroes, The Nextmen and The Creators. Not sure who's featured in this one but it's going to be AMAZING. See below for the info...

shout to Alex who won the DJ Krush competition last week, nowt to give away this week besides the show download which is below, managed to slip in a few of my '07 favourites I forgot about. Thanks to all who came out to Funkbox on Friday too, next ones going to be a bit special but I'll write more about it closer to the time. Finishing off my best of '07 list so that should be up this week (quite a big list too which is both suprising and good, Nas obviously isn't looking in the right placesor listening to my show! Top 20 updated on the right too.

(gotta keep it hip-hop related) They write about hip hop stuff too and get lots of flack for being honest about wack rappers and have a sense of humour, so full props to them!

Been a great start to the year for vinyl with the Unique EP coming out on Diggers With Gratitude (One's on ebay if you missed out on that gem...my write up to follow). Vinyl Addicts announced their first release which is Lord Finesse's demos...again only 200 copies, not sure how many are left but be quick, the snippets sound incredible. Support the vinyl!

Xmas Cypher Show, Gigs and things...

Cypher show last night so no real playlist, I've written one anyway and thanks to all the emcees who made it, repeat shows next week and on New Years day cause I'm DJ'ing at the Yardbird with the rest of Funkbox and the Foundation Collective, details here. The station have promised to play the show with Pneumatic, Arkaic and Eurgh that they couldn't find?!? from a few weeks back. I'll be back in the New Year with a best of 2007 show. Natural Self is playing for us at the Yardbird on Friday for Funkbox last few have been rammed so try and get down early.

Fatlace have posted some great stuff recently including interviews with Greg Nice and Tuff City's Aaron Fuchs. Robbies continued his sterling work at Unkut with interviews with Show(biz), NYG'z, Percee P and some nice posts about Royal Flush who the majority of you won't be remotely interested in but I think is very slept on, in fact I'm going to Ice Down some Medallions now. A great festive mix is available for free download from Beat Street here. What else is the internet good for?
