Crate003 Soundsci Dig For Victory EP

Crate Escape Proudly Presents...
Soundsci Dig For Victory EP
Artist: Soundsci
Release: Dig For Victory EP
Label: Crate Escape Records
Release Date: 20-07-2009

Rising from the ashes and Digging For Victory.

Soundsci is the brainchild of Jonny Cuba (One half of now disbanded Dynamic Syncopation) and Audessey (Founding member of Mass Influence) after collaborating previously on numerous occasions for Ninja Tune (Ground Zero, Dedicated, Systematic and 2 Tha Left), they kept in touch and continued making music together. As more tracks were recorded and friends Ollie Teeba (Herbaliser), U-George, and Therapy got brought into the mix it made sense to make an ep rather than single and the "Dig For Victory EP" was born. As a bonus track we are honoured to include an older track produced by Audessey featuring Jax from Binkis who unfortunately passed away last year and Reality. Using their b-boy ethics while not getting caught up in the past it thumps hard and reminds you why you love hip-hop.

The EP is
limited to 275 hand numbered red vinyl ep’s and 10 test pressings on black vinyl with individual artwork never to be repressed. The first 100 standard copies come with a CD of all the tracks and bonus folder with instrumentals, acapellas and remix competition.

Tracklist
Side A

1. Intro / Remedy

2. Show and Prove
3. The Question feat. U-George

Side B

1.
The Illness
2.
Lost and Found
3. Knock, Knock feat Therapy the Medicine Man

4. Think feat Jax & Reality

Cuts by Ollie Teeba, Jonny Cuba and Cro
Mixed by No Sleep Nigel

Some Quotes...

DJ Food (Ninja Tune)
"'Remedy' is f*cking banging, the best good time hip hop I've heard in ages, 'Show & Prove' and the 'Illness' ain't far behind, Short and sweet tracks, tight rhymes, beats and cuts - if only mainstream Hip Hop hadn't foresaken the funk for R&B and virtual synths"

DJ Woody (ITF & Vestax World DJ Champion) "You just have to take a look at the credentials of the guys behind this project to realise its gonna be a killer. Dope true school hip hop for those that like it how it should be, extra fonky! Top notch."

Poor Pocket Muzik "The Soundsci Ep Fresh Rhymes & Dope beats = A breath a fresh air when Hip Hop needs it the most"

Ed Catto (Freestyle Records) "Soundsci's Dig For Victory EP is proof that talented heads should never stop making the music they love. Lush compositions provide ample opportunity for lyrical calisthenics -- this shit is vibin'. Don't put a tag on that toe yet."

What If Dilla Produced The Blueprint...

Was put onto this courtesy of Truth, below is the press release shouts to Jimmy for doing this...it's a great listen and shows how dope Jay sounds over Dilla beats, still be great for Jay to get an unused beat, and go cop Jay Stay Paid, it's out NOW!
WHAT IF DILLA PRODUCED THE BLUEPRINT? A few years back, rumours started surfacing that one of Dilla's infamous beat CDs had made its way into the hands of none other than Jay-Z. If the Jiggaman HAD used any of Dilla's beats, what would they have sounded like? Well, here's a chance to hear what might have been. Using some of Dilla's best beats, and the vocals from the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed "Blueprint" album, DJ Jimmy Green has re-arranged the Blueprint into a glimpse of what might have been if these two musical legends had collaborated.

DOWNLOAD HERE : http://www.sendspace.com/file/pct1io

Note:
Make sure that you BUY Dilla's music legally (wax, cd or official download) - don't illegally download! Make sure that Ma Dukes gets her dues. You can get most of these instrumentals from official, legal channels - if you like them then don't download for free. Money needs to go where it's due. This is not intended to be a substitute for Dilla's work, or The Blueprint album - there's no profit involved and it won't affect sales of either artist. PS If you haven't got it already, go and buy the Blueprint, it's amazing.

PEACE

DJ JS-1 Freeness and Album out now...

The studio was out of action so apologies for no show on Monday, last weeks show with Serocee is still up so check that if you haven't here. Off to play at Glastonbury Festival tomorrow morning so up against it and doubt I'll get another chance to post, if your going you'll be able to catch me at the Jazz World Stage, might even play some jazz. Next Crate Escape release is imminent so keep checking back or drop me an email if you want to get an email heads up before everyone else (email to the right).

Jazzie B was great on Saturday too, really great crowd apart from the people wanting to dance on the stage, tw@ts! Shouts to Funkbox and the Hare and Hounds (Hot 8 Brass Band are playing there tonight too!)

On with the freeness, JS-1 is a DOPE dj, had the pleasure of seeing him with Rahzel far too long ago, his new album No Sell Out was released yesterday, it's got over 40 collaborations and is entirely produced by JS-1 so go pick it up so I've got "Murder" featuring Chino XL, Sean Price and Killah Priest up for download, don't sleep and I reckon Chino takes this, Sean's busy trying to run his label! Click the link or pic to get the track and go cop that album here!

JAZZIE B (Soul II Soul)
MC CHICKABOO
FUNKBOX DJS

9pm – 2am
Hare & Hounds
106 High Street
Kings Heath
Birmingham
B14 7JZ

The original Funki Dred, Jazzie B, stops by for a DJ set at FUNKBOX. Soul II Soul started life as a sound system that became a Grammy Award winning soul super-group, a clothing label and legendary brand. As a band Soul II Soul released top hits such as ‘Keep On Movin’ and ‘Back To Life’, which still rock any dancefloor today.

Back in the heyday of 1980’s London, the Soul II Soul clubnights, headed by Jazzie B, were roadblocks, playing genre-defying sets, that included all good soulful music, they have become the stuff of legend. Jazzie will be joined by MC Chickaboo, giving us all the chance to experience a night with the original Soul II Soul vibes.
